Hong Bang International University (Đại học Quốc tế Hồng Bàng, HIU) is a private multidisciplinary university established in 1997 in Ho Chi Minh City, and part of the Nguyen Hoang Education Group. It runs 10 faculties and 48 undergraduate programmes, with health sciences — medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and rehabilitation — at its centre.
The Doctor of Medicine programme runs 6 years across 12 semesters and is taught entirely in English. The first two years cover foundation sciences with pre-clinical lab practice, years three to five move into core subjects and hospital rotations, and the final year is advanced clinical training closing with a thesis defence or comprehensive examination.
Pre-clinical teaching is delivered through 12 laboratories and 60 specialised practice rooms, including 3D virtual anatomy tables and simulation models, before students move into the teaching hospital network across the city.
Aieraa Overseas Studies signed its Memorandum of Understanding with HIU on 1 July 2021 — the first university partnership Aieraa established in Vietnam, alongside Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
Ho Chi Minh City is a three-to-four hour flight from most Indian metros and home to a long-established Indian community, with Indian restaurants, grocery stores and places of worship within reach of campus.
